About WineTourist

WineTourist is the first truly independant online resource to find a wine tasting experience to suit both you and you budget. We are passionate about wine tourism and offer this website as a resource that will hopefully allow you to make an informed decision on what sort of wine tour would appeal to you. We also offer the ability to search for wineries and their cellar doors which are open to the public in the instance you have your own method of transport so feel free to use this resource.
WineTourist does not charge a fee from the touring companies that are listed in our database* which means unlike other online sites, you will actually be given a full selection of tours to choose from and not just the companies that are prepared to pay a fee to be listed.

Please Note: we do not make any guarantee to the quality and value of the tours that we have listed online however there are other great resources online like Trip Advisor that you can see current relevant feedback from customers so you can make an informed decision.
We hope you find the website easy to use and to keep Wine Tourist as the best online resource available, please feel free to contact us with any suggestions you may have in ways we can improve our service in helping you finding the most appropriate available wine tour specifically tailored for you and your budget.

About Us

As the operator of this website I first started in the Hospitality industry employed by the Adelaide Casino as a Croupier way back in 1985!
In 1987 as with most Australians, I decided to venture out to the big wide world and travelled extensively through Europe first as a passenger and then later returning in 1988 to train as a Tour Leader. I worked for the company I had previously travelled with called Autotours, specialising in taking 18-38 year olds on European Coach holidays of a lifetime! At the time, Autotours was the "oldest running" company of its type in Europe with it's main rivals being Contiki and Top Deck.
After spending another 3 years on the road travelling all over Europe, it was time to make the move back home to Adelaide however the smooth transition back to a 'normal life' after some exciting times just didnt seem to work. After a few months of travelling around Australia and New Zealand I started work for Contiki on the east coast of Australia. Again it was catering for mainly young people in the 18-35 age group and it was a very different experience taking foreign nationals around this country and alot more difficult than dealing with laid back Aussies and Kiwis! This was a great grounding though for me to learn to deal with people of all nationalities and really set me up for later roles in life.
After another year on the road I returned to Adelaide and started a Diploma in Travel & Tourism. After 2 years I gained my qualifications and tried to enter the industry without much luck. I returned to the Casino business once again, this time as a Gaming Supervisor at the opening of the new Crown Casino Melbourne. With a family illness, I returned home to the Adelaide Casino as a Gaming Inspector.
By the year 2000 I was itching to get back into Tour Leading and again an opportunity presented itself in leading day tours to the Wine regions surrounding Adelaide and since that date I have continued leading tours right through to the present time.

* PLEASE NOTE: We may charge any wine related and non wine related business an advertising fee from banner advertising on our header image and from any wine tour business that would like to further promote itself in a prominent position on the website. This will clearly be stated as a "Featured Tour" or as part of the Gallery Slideshow stating it is a "Featured Tour".
